Lee Sechrist

Co-Founder Gratitude Initiative,
U.S. Army Veteran

Lee is the Co-Founder of Gratitude Initiative (GI) and he volunteers his time as the Executive Director. He is a former Army officer, disabled veteran, and accomplished business owner who brings over thirty years of organizational leadership and management experience to GI. Lee has spent the last twenty-three years in the education technology sector as a business owner and executive.  He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant from Texas A&M University in 1989, and while in the Army, Lee served as an infantry officer and as an intelligence officer.

Lee has been an active supporter of both the military and law enforcement communities. He is a former volunteer, mentor, and guest speaker for Texas A&M’s Mays Business School’s Entrepreneurial Boot Camp for Veterans (EBV) and he also served for many years as a member of the Texas Veterans Commission’s Veterans Communication Advisory Committee.  Lee is also a member of the North Texas Crime Commission.

In the summer of 2013, he resolved to do more to support our military and law enforcement families and began bringing together leading experts in college and career counseling to develop a program to give back to the families who have given so much to our country and our local communities.  With the help of like-minded friends and business professionals, GI was born.

Lee and his wife Sherri enjoy spending time with their two grown children, their spouses, and their grandchildren.  Their oldest child has been serving in law enforcement for almost ten years.
